If you are a homeowner considering installing a modern farmhouse style kitchen in a remodel or new construction, allow Rigney HomeCraft Fine Cabinetry to show you how to get the perfect look. With our on-trend design boards, we will walk you through every choice you have to make, from design to paint and hardware. In this post we will show you how to make your selections and coordinate your look in a way that takes the stress out of decision-making and provides an outcome right out of a magazine.

What is a Design Board, and Why Does it Matter?

Design Boards are used by interior designers to pull together all the elements in a project in one spot so it is easy for their clients to see how each part of the design coordinates with the overall look. Rigney HomeCraft understands how challenging selections can be for homeowners who are trying to create a space that reflects a specific style.  Each selection plays a part in the overall look.  Having an interior designer by your side as you navigate the process is super helpful, and if you need a recommendation for a designer, we can provide that.  We work with designers on kitchen remodels frequently.  If a designer is not in your budget, however, we would like to provide you with some assistance through our preplanned design boards.  This post focuses on the modern-farmhouse style, and we have provided two design boards for your consideration in this blog.  Select your favorite board and use it as a guide as you make the design decisions for your new kitchen.  It’s going to look fabulous!

“Blue Vintage” Design Board for Modern Farmhouse Kitchen

This board blends the farmhouse feel with rustic charm. Focal points of the design include the Fortezza back splash tile with imitations of scuffs and spots that give the look of well-loved century old tile.  Also catching the eye is a hand-crafted vent hood made from reclaimed wood. Rigney HomeCraft is known for creating unique hoods that are true statement pieces in the room. The cabinet door profile features a nice accent around the classic shaker, elevating it to a timeless door style that will be loved for years to come. Bronze accents on handles, faucets and the sink bring warmth to the kitchen. The Sherwin-Williams (SW) cabinet color Snowbound is one of the most interesting colors we have seen on cabinets. While neutral, it really warms up the traditional white kitchen giving you a feel of something more than “just white.” Adding SW Navel on an island makes a statement and grounds the island space within the room.

“Timeless” Design Board for Modern Farmhouse Kitchen

The “Timeless” design does just what its name implies by creating a space that will be enjoyable and relevant for years to come. The design calls for SW Pure White cabinets and SW Repose Gray walls, but you could totally flip this and make your cabinets stand out and be a bit more unique than the white kitchens that many folks have. By using “furniture style” features on the cabinets including glass door upper stacks to the ceiling and furniture style toe kicks and legs, you will immediately elevate your kitchen design. Classic countertops and back splash choices will stand the test of time. The Daltile marble back splash tile can be laid in a variety of patterns. The true focal point of the room, however, will be your island which will feature a unique specialty finish that Rigney HomeCraft uses to provide the look and feel of aged wood with beautiful gray undertones. It will be one-of-a-kind!
